Flextronics to Recruit Additional 6,000 Workers in October in China
October 15, 2009
Following the closure of its assembly plant and a massive layoff of workers in Malaysia, the Singapore-based electronics manufacturer Flextronics plans to recruit more than 6,000 workers in October, who will be assigned to work in Flextronics Zhuhai Industrial Park in China, the South China Morning Post reported on October 13, citing Wong Yat-men, the vice president of human resources in Asia of Flextronics. Wong stated that the company plans to hire an additional 1,000 workers within the next two months as Christmas orders are expected to bring labor shortages in China. Additionally, Flextronics normally recruits workers from Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi and Guizhou provinces and is seeing strong growth in the PC, flat-panel television and mobile phone segments, according to the same source. To date, the company's key clients include HP, Motorola, LG, and Microsoft.
